Congratulations Card using the Happy Birthday Gorgeous Stamp Set

Happy Birthday Gorgeous CardHello there!

My fiance’s sister recently got engaged and what better way to express your congratulations than by sending a card!

Firstly, I apologize for using a sentiment from the retired So in Love stamp set but I thought it was so pretty I had to use it! The flowers are from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set which I adore. It has so many pretty stamps in it.

I used a Misti tool and masks I cut out from post its to make sure the stamps weren’t overlapping each other. You can use a Stamp-ma-jig as well for this, I just found the Misti very helpful laying out and building up the image.

I used promarkers for colouring in with. You can also use watercolour pencils, other markers or inks. I just happen to have Promarkers from my mother and thought they would work well for this job.

I am no expert colouring with promarkers, what I think helps is trying to imagine how I would like the flowers to look like before colouring, because if I just start colouring I just switch off my brain and it all becomes too random and it rarely ends up well for me! So I had a good idea about how I wanted the roses and leaves to look like and also the forget-me-not’s (or that’s what I turned them into!) and then I started colouring in.

Of course, after almost being done, I mess up my nicely stamped and coloured image. I decided to cut the image out using scissors. It was not possible for me to save it with any framelits 😦
With that said I think placing it on top of the DSP and copper thread makes it looks very nice! I wish I had used more copper thread to make it looking like a birds nest. I think that would have looked very cool, but also more like a spring card. I am very pleased with my card and I hope the receiver enjoys it as well!

Enjoy and have a nice day!
