Celebrate You Card Using Washi Tape

I wanted to share a card with you where I used washi tape and the celebrate you thinlit dies. I sent this card to my sister in law as she just passed her driving test and it was her birthday. Lots to celebrate! And many Congratulations to her!

I bought washi tape a long time ago but I haven’t really used any and since I have wedding expenses coming up at the end of the next three months I have to be good with money! No spontaneous or cheeky craft purchases for me 😦 So in this period of time you will see me using a lot of the stash I bought a while ago mixed in with some Sale-a-Bration items which is actually not so bad. Also if you have not heard of Sale-a-Bration yet then please check out a post I made about it here!

celebrate you thinlit dies by stampin upI love washi tape. It’s so pretty but im also not so good at getting it used and you kind of need to – I have seen washi tape go off! Yes, it becomes all sticky and you can’t use it. So better use it while you can!

I decided to cover a piece of card with washi tape – in no particular order – to make it look like designer series paper and it looks great! You can do as I have done here and just use it on a card front or you can use it for scrapbooking or you can die cut from it – which I have done for a Valentines project!

Personally I like the washi tape has been bent around the card and not cut as it gives it some nice dimension. If you wanted the die cuts to stand more out you can die cut another piece in black and layer it behind – making the black peek at the side like a shadow. It will make it stand out for sure.

I will be posting my Valentines project next week. I think it’s the first year ever I have been so organised! Have you thought about Valentines Day yet? Are you doing anything special? I would love to hear from you.

Glamorous Birthday Card

My neighbour asked me if I had time to make a birthday card for her mum and of course I had time for it. She told me her mum was turning 80, her favourite colour is pink, she loves shopping and crime stories.
I thought crime stories was difficult to fit in with the other topics and decided to use the Beautiful you stamp set from Stampin’ Up! I also used a couple of retired Stampin’ Up! products (unfair I know!) as it just went really well together.

Stampin' Up!'s Beautiful you birthday card

The main colour for this card is Blushing Bride by Stampin’ Up! It’s a beautiful soft pink and gives the card a very feminine look. I coloured the lady by using a Blender pen to pick up colour from the blushing bride ink pad. I then covered her dress in glossy accent, you can also use the fine-tip glue pen from Stampin’ Up! for this, then I used tweezers to add sequins to the dress with.

I used my Cricut to cut the numbers with and I believe it was with the Story Book cartridge. I mainly use my Cricut for scrapbooking but it is also good for the odd job here and there when making cards.

I had lots of fun making this card and I love the way it turned out. My neighbour’s mum loved the card as well. It makes me happy knowing the receiver appreciated the effort I put into making this card, a whole lot of LOVE!
